Lost Stations: Digital Art Mentoring Programme

An incredible opportunity for artists, photographers & filmmakers to explore digital art and innovation through a series of tailor-made workshops. Led by digital artist and tutor SAM MEECH. Workshops and masterclasses will offer the chance to learn digital art techniques, develop professional practice and produce work for an exhibition.



BFI Film Academy (Filmmaking 16-19s)

Signal Film and Media is one of 40 regional delivery partner for the BFI Film Academy Regional Network for Cumbria and Lancashire. The BFI Film Academy is a national scheme that aims to identify, nurture, celebrate and showcase the next generation of British film industry talent and give young people who are passionate about film the opportunity to develop the skills and ambition to forge a career in film. Since January 2013 young filmmakers aged 16-19 from Cumbria and Lancashire have taken part in courses covering all aspects of filmmaking and the film industry including programming, script writing, film production and distribution. Those that have been selected have received training from Industry Professionals and worked towards an Arts Award qualification.



Signal Cinema – Autumn 16/ Winter 17 Season

Signal Starters – Youth workshops during school holidays for 8-11s
We have the kind support from Children In Need for the delivery of our new film and digital media project, Signal Starters. The project has kicked off with fun and inspiring filmmaking taster days and workshops for primary school children during the half-term school holidays in May 2014. Signal have worked alongside practicing professionals including Zosia Wand (Script-writer) and Russell Peet (Animator) to help in the delivery of these workshops.


Cooke’s Crew (Filmmaking club 11-16s)
Signal is looking for new recruits for a film and digital media project for young people in Barrow this 2016.  Cooke’s Crew is a large scale project combing arts, health, inclusion, personal development and education activities for Barrow residents, having run for 3 years through The Inspiring Barrow project, the project has now secured funding through Big Lottery-Awards For all, Cumbria County Council, The Peoples Postcode lottery and The Dulverton Trust.

Signal is excited to be running the brand new weekly film club from September 2016 every Wednesday, 6pm – 8pm until March 2017.
