Young people aged 16-19 years old from Furness are invited to come and learn how to make unique experimental films with artists and filmmakers at Signal Film and Media.
A free taster workshop will take place on Sat 23rd Sept 12pm until 3pm at Signal’s premises, Cooke’s Studios on Abbey Road. Cumbrian artist filmmaker Julia Parks will be showing how experimental 16 mm films are made. Film makers will create unique film loops by drawing, painting, scratching and hole punching directly onto the film surface. The young filmmakers will complete a looped unique film that can be projected on a 16mm projector.
The main project will run for 18 weekly sessions from Tues 26th Sept 5.30 until 7.30pm at Signal. The workshops will be run by Signal’s own filmmakers and a series of visiting artists and filmmakers. With the aim of producing unique creative work through experimental and artistic film processes. The resulting work will be screened in a celebration event early next year.
