Signal Starters’ Animation Selected for International Festival!

Fantastic News! The animated short film ‘The Day Before Christmas’ made by our Signal Starters film club last December for 8-11yr olds, has been specially selected for screening at the 1st Annual Palm Springs International Animation Festival from November 9-11, 2017!

Out of the 2,700 films submitted, we’re thrilled to announce The Day Before Christmas – a stop-motion animation filmed by our amazing young people in December 2016 as part of the ‘Film in a Week’ project – has been selected to be included in this fantastic new film festival. The short film was created by 16 young people under the tutelage and guidance of Signal’s filmmakers Karen Bird, Stephanie Bryant, Sophie Broadgate and Jon Borgia. Special thanks also to Rachel Capovila, Nicos Nicolaides and Tommo’s Baguettes for supporting the project.

PSIAF 2017 will feature award winning films from Cannes, Annecy, Tribeca and Sundance with Oscar and Grammy artists and producers in a variety of styles from 2D, 3D, Hand Drawn, Water Color, Oil Painted, VFX & Rotoscoping, Experimental, Sand, Paper, Anime, and Stop-Motion. The Day Before Christmas will screen on Friday 10th November at the Richards Art Centre  at 6:00pm as part of the ‘Winter & Holiday Animated Shorts’ section along side films from over 103 counties!

“Animation is a powerful form of art with the ability to educate, inform and inspire a new world of storytelling. Our goal and passion is to celebrate amazing animated films, the talented artist and their teams from around the world.” – Brian Neil Hoff, Festival Director PSIAF 2017
